Murder of farmer

RECENTLY I saw Tony Martin on TV commenting on the terrible murder of an East Sussex farmer. Mr Martin was arrested on his Norfolk farm in 1999 for shooting an intruder at his isolated farm.

In common with many people I was so angry that someone should suffer this fate when trying to protect their own property. I wrote to Tony when he was in prison to show him support and also his elderly mother and I entered into a correspondence over the matter.

I feel so strongly over this event in East Sussex as, although it is, of course, different from the Martin case, it is a reminder of the vulnerability of land owners trying to protect their property in these isolated places especially as it is so difficult to obtain help from the police in rural areas owing to the distances involved.
