Jane Thomas, Director of Music, introduced the concert as one which would include a plethora of varied musical treats, and the evening certainly lived up to expectation. Over 120 girls took part, with the Prep and Senior girls collaborating marvellously in many of the pieces performed.

The theme of autumn was carried through the evening, starting with a rousing rendition of what is many people’s favourite of Vivaldi’s ‘Four Seasons’ from the Concert Orchestra, moving onto “Autumn Leaves” from Aristoskatz, and ending with Farlingtonic’s ‘California Dreamin’’ which neatly returned to the theme of falling leaves and autumnal weather but sent the audience out with a ‘spring’ in their step!

In between, we had a terrific selection of contrasting items from instrumental groups including the newly formed Stringendo, Strood Players, Flute Choir, Guitar Ensemble, Clarinet Trio, Telemann Strings and Strood Consort.

Choral items included a charming Junior Choir, a rhythmically inventive GLEE and the ever-effervescent 60-strong SKATZ! Razzmajazz, directed by Matt Ellis, performed a fabulous rendition of the chilled-out jazz number, ‘Cantaloupe Island’, and the Rock Band performed a mash-up of two pop-songs to great acclaim. The evening showcased the wealth of talent and hard work of all the young performers.
