No bottomless pit of money

When I read today's Observer, I was quite concerned as I agreed some of the comments voiced by Mr. Stephen Jackson with regard to the Olympic Games.

However, when I caught up with the previous week’s publication, it was situation normal ( I missed it that week as I was away).

I don’t think I have ever read such drivel about the railways, and business in general.

I would hazard a guess that Mr. Jackson is/was either a civil servant or an academic, neither of these trades has ever felt the need for profitability.

If a business does not make a profit then it soon goes out of business, there is no bottomless pit of money as so many in the trade unions and theIr supporters think.

My father, both grandfathers and a few uncles were all railwaymen, firstly with SE & Chatham, then Southern and eventually BR. I know where they were happiest.

With the mentality shown by the RMT Union I am expecting them to soon demand someone walking in front of every train with a red flag, purely for safety of course.
