No more toadying

I WOULD like to thank those people who have supported me and taken the trouble to email, send cards, and telephone me regarding my recent resignation from the Conservative group on Rother District Council.

I left the group with a heavy heart, after many happy years as a part of a very hardworking and mostly happy band of councillors. I have always tried to do my best, sometimes controversial I know, but I hope, trying very hard to truly represent the overall view of my constituents.

There are some who will say I did not succeed, very often because it was not in my power.

Councillors of all denominations need help to carry out their responsibilities, and I have depended on some of our excellent officers during several recent difficulties in my Sackville Ward.

Also at the moment we have wonderful local police officers in Sergeant Dan Russell and PC Roy “Bunny” Warren, to whom I give my grateful thanks.

I hope I can count on the continued support of the above, and the understanding of the residents of Sackville Ward, to whom I will be writing to very soon.

I look forward to working with my Independent colleagues Stuart Earl, John Lee and Tony Mansi, in working hard to add to all the good things that are happening in Bexhill, but importantly to make sure that Bexhill - with half of all the people of Rother living here - is truly represented with an independent point of view: not having to “toady “to any political party.
