No need for further vote

I UNDERSTAND from your paper that there may be another vote on the proposed North Littlehampton development.

As a resident of Littlehampton for nearly 20 years, I am a little confused as to why there is a perceived need for another vote. The only reason would be if the process was undermined due to a) people voting under duress; or b) there was a breach of rules or protocol; or c) any other glaring error that would suggest this was not a true vote.

If this is not the case, then surely the elected councillors' views should stand, as should the decision not to go ahead? If there were to be another vote and this time the development were to go ahead, one would need to look at the integrity of those councillors changing their position.

I am happy with the decision that was made, as are many other residents. Littlehampton would have been in danger of becoming a commuter town, with no real heart and soul within the community. We should be building on the previous good work in Littlehampton, as we do have a good base for community spirit, shown through events like the Littlehampton Bonfire.
