He immediately sat in the ‘home corner’ where he was entertained by two-year-old Isla who made pretend cakes for him.

Catkins is a new nursery opening in November. It will be open from 8am to 6pm all year around, and will cater for up to 24 children aged two to five years of age. The owner Mrs Cathy Walden also owns Holy Innocents Playgroup in Southwater, a double Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding setting.

“I am passionate about nursery education and trained as a NNEB nursery nurse on leaving school, I have always worked with children and I aim for Catkins to mirror Holy Innocents Playgroup success in working practices as I want to provide quality childcare in Horsham too.

“We have refurbished the premises and will employ a nursery cook, providing high quality ‘home’ cooking from scratch, with the children helping to prepare some of the vegetables and bake the cakes for special occasions. I aim to have the personal and friendly atmosphere we enjoy at Holy Innocents Playgroup with each child having fun and reaching their full potential.

“Further open days are planned for Friday October 30 from 10am to 1pm, and Saturday October 31 from 10am to 5pm. Visits welcome, just pop in to view and to play!”
