Offensive in its propaganda

The Leave campaign is going to absurd lengths in its propaganda.

The most obvious and offensive example is Boris Johnson’s claim that the EU is pursuing the same aims as Adolf Hitler. No sensible person can consider that a union of democratic nations who have all voluntarily joined and who, by invoking Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, can all voluntarily leave whose aims are to promote peace, democracy, prosperity and co-operation is like a regime which aimed to establish its power over Europe by armed conquest and aimed not at a union of nations but the supremacy of a single race.

This supremacy was promoted by the mass murder of more than six million Jews and gypsies.

Mr Johnson and his admirers would do well to notice that those political parties in the EU which have sympathy with Nazi ideas are all anti-EU.

Examples are Golden Dawn in Greece, Jobbvik in Hungary and the British National Party. Less extreme but still intolerant parties like the Front National in France, the Dutch Freedom Party, the Swedish Democrats and the Alternative for Germany are all anti EU.

This applies also to the extreme left in politics, the French and Portuguese Communist Parties are both anti-EU and never declared that Stalin was wrong!

No wonder Lord Heseltine has said Mr Johnson has begun to make ‘preposterous obscene political remarks’ and Mr William Hague has said that ‘the Leave campaign is really the Trump campaign with better hair’.
