On Cameron's tail

BARBARA Roberts (Gazette letters, July 29) is in complete denial on the role of the Liberals in this ConDem government.

It seems quite clear to everyone that Clegg is hanging onto the coat tails of Cameron.

Everyone knows you are doing the dirty work for the Tories by defending these horrendous cuts being imposed on those least able to bear them – the increase in VAT to 20 per cent, the suspension of school building, cuts in the NHS and the prospect of thousands of building workers being thrown on the scrap heap.

This is just the start, and what the Tories have always done.

But how on earth can Liberals go along with such policies?

To have the cheek to blame Labour for an international crisis brought about by bankers, and starting off in America, really takes the biscuit, especially after the top 20 nations of the world thanked Gordon Brown for his leadership at that time, and voted him Man of the Year.

Labour's legacy is every child who is sitting in a brand-new school, the winter fuel payment, more than 100 new hospitals, free bus travel for pensioners, devolution to Scotland and Wales, Sure Start centres like the Wickbourne Centre, tax credits, the national minimum wage, and much more.

Labour's plan was not to cut spending this year but to go for growth, keeping people in work, not putting them on the dole like this ConDem government.

Any cuts, if necessary, would be over a four-year period, not the vicious slash and cuts going on now.

I would suggest it is the Liberals who should be looking for a plan B, to extricate themselves from the grip the Tories now have on them, otherwise, they will soon have the life completely squeezed out of them, and, alas, will be no more.
