Parking charges are unfair

WORTHING hospital is soon to start charging night workers for their parking spaces, which seems grossly unfair. As well as doctors and nurses working at night, there are also many low-paid support staff – porters, cleaners, receptionists, medical records staff, telephonists, etc.

Public transport is simply not an option as it is too infrequent or non existent for shifts starting and/or finishing at these hours – anything between 8pm and in the case of A&E receptionists midnight.

To have to park several streets away and walk to the hospital is dangerous. These streets may be relatively safe during daylight hours, but you do not have to be a troublemaker to end up on a stretcher in A&E with blood pouring from you, just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I cannot believe that the hospital is so hard up they have to endanger their staff just to raise a few extra quid.
