“Since the John Lewis Christmas advert was launched we have recorded an increase in enquiries about volunteering. Age UK Horsham District currently has volunteers that help run lunch clubs and carry out home visits and we are always looking for more volunteers to help make a difference in our community”.”

Miranda Graesser said: “We hope our an on the Moon campaign in association with Age UK will help people to find really special gifts for their loved ones and through our partnership with Age UK, raise awareness of the issue of loneliness amongst older people, as 1 million older people go for a month without speaking to anyone.”

John Lewis Horsham Partners will be given the opportunity to volunteer with Age UK Horsham District over the coming months at various events.

Age UK is also one of the three charities in the John Lewis Community Matters scheme that will be awarded a percentage of £3,000 as voted for by John Lewis customers. The other Charities are Winstons Wish, bereavement support for Children and Cancer Research.
