Pavement parkers

I READ recently in the national press that councils had the power to fine motorists who park on pavements £70.

Parking on pavements has always been an offence.

As a resident of North Street, Wick this is a daily occurrence – a stream of cars and vans park on the pavement.

Mothers with pushchairs, wheelchairs and pedestrians often have to go into the road.

I have personally been sworn at by drivers who have parked across my drive, when I have wanted access in or out of my property and asked them to please move.

There have been occasions when cars are parked in the middle of the pavement in Wick Street, with never a sign of a warden.

If the council wants to make some money, try patrolling Wick for a day.
