Places left to run for Sport Relief

I WOULD like to take this opportunity of reminding the public and all local businesses alike, that Sport Relief is coming to town this weekend, throughout Littlehampton, its seafront promenade and east bank riverside walkways.

Official events start tomorrow (Friday) when The Sportsman, sports and social club holds a Sport Relief Quiz and fund-raising evening at 8pm.

On Sunday, 500 fun runners will take part in the main event, the Sport Relief Mile, to raise money for people living in poverty throughout the UK and the world's poorest countries.

All 200 places have now gone in the three-mile event, there are only a handful left in the six-miler and the remaining 40 places in the one-mile event should go very quickly, particularly as both Worthing and Chichester Sport Relief events are now full.

There will, however, be 50 registration places available on the day at the Windmill Entertainment Centre studio on a first come, first served, basis for all three distances.

The Littlehampton Sport Relief fun run will not affect any local businesses, traders, leisure or entertainment facilities, and all car parks and street parking are open for business as usual, welcoming one and all to Littlehampton during the event.

Fun runners will start in "waves" between 11am and noon to run one, three, or six miles over a two-hour period.

During that time, I would respectfully ask people to bear with us – it may be crowded in places and adults are strongly urged to maintain a watchful eye on all children at all times.

It would also greatly assist us if dog walkers were able to keep their dogs on leads during the fun run.

All that remains to be said is that we wish one and all a highly memorable, enjoyable, fulfilling and happy day, plus a huge thanks to all the team at the Gazette for their superb support and dedication.
