Planning notice excuse simply not acceptable

I AM writing once again with regard to the proposed McCarthy & Stone development at Church Street/Fitzalan Road, Littlehampton.

I was very concerned to see there were no orange planning notices posted outside the houses involved.

My neighbour went to the council offices and looked at the plans, and the notices were in the back of the folder.

This was queried and, surprise, surprise, the notices went up the next day.

Is this a new policy of Arun District Council, not to display notices on areas where there may be reason to believe that residents may object?

This development is not acceptable to the public and it seems to be that both McCarthy & Stone and the council are not following the procedures required.

I understand from the assistant on the desk that the planning officers are too busy to go and look at all the sites applying for planning permission, as there are not enough officers to deal with all the plans put forward.

Surely this is not acceptable.

On looking at the plans, the proposed entrance is almost opposite the entrance to St Mary's Close.

This exit point is already dangerous due to the number of cars parked in Church Street every day, and I feel this will make Church Street even more dangerous.

This development is completely out of character with the surrounding buildings and I ask: why are these houses being vandalised when there is a perfectly good site in Rustington, the old Abbotswood site, empty and ready for development?

When is someone going to stand up and represent the people of this town and say NO to these large developers?
