Plans there for all to see

I WRITE in response to recent letters about regenerating Littlehampton.

It is great to see such passion for rejuvenating the town from local residents and I can assure you all that plans to regenerate Littlehampton, including Pier Road, are well underway.

We are very keen for everyone to have their say on these plans, and people now have the perfect opportunity as consultation starts on some of our key projects.

I urge every Littlehampton resident to come along to the shop at 4 Surrey Street that we will be occupying for the next two months (11am-2pm) to showcase plans and get the opinions of local people.

Plans to redevelop St Martin's car park into a modern and vibrant extension of the High Street, increasing the capacity and appeal to retailers, are already on show, so come and fill out a questionnaire and let us know your thoughts.

A study on developing our amazing harbour, with a much larger emphasis on leisure rather than commercial usage, is also explained in the shop, and ideas on how we go about implementing these improvements are welcome.

And from May 8, we will also be starting a consultation on our new Waterfront Strategy, one of the most exciting and important plans for Littlehampton's future.

Masterminded by internationally renowned architect Sir Terry Farrell, the strategy will suggest innovative and forward-thinking plans to rejuvenate the seafront '“ including enhancing Pier Road '“ that will reinstate Littlehampton as a premier coastal resort.

After seeing the enthusiasm demonstrated by residents in their letters, I sincerely hope that everyone in the town takes the time to pop into our shop to let us know how they feel about these plans.

Together we can all work towards a vision of a better Littlehampton '“ both for now and for the future.
