Please take care with carriages

The couple immediately came to my assistance and helped me to regain my feet, asking me if I was alright.

The driver of the invalid carriage managed to stop a few yards further on, and also came to help.

It was obvious that the invalid carriage had been driven too fast. I assured everyone that I was okay, although a little shaken.

I would like to offer my sincere thanks to the couple for their concern and assistance.

To the driver of the invalid carriage I would suggest that he should realise the dangers of driving too fast in the vicinity of pedestrians, and adjust his speed accordingly.

The independence that such vehicles offer to the elderly and infirm is of great importance to their quality of life, and I would hope that this incident does not weigh too heavily upon his mind.

All’s well that ends well. I suffered no more that a couple of grazes.

However, just remember that it could have been a child involved. In future, hopefully, he will continue to drive but with much more care.

No names or addresses were exchanged, so the only way I can offer these remarks is via the Observer.
