Poem for St Valentine's Day

This Love Did Find Us

If we had met when we were young

- and yet, we lived and loved,

Enjoyed the things we did

the friends we were among -

We could have held hands, touched,

As we do now and warmed

To all the hidden thoughts

And tenderness that formed

In such a short sweet time. Not lost!

Though innocence has fled

and youth did disappear,

But nothing did it cost.

For now I am repaid

One hundredfold and blessed

With overwhelming joy,

By loving arms caressed.

No yearning now for years long spent,

On other joys or bliss

that came and went with time.

for this love were we meant.

And age will just enhance

This pleasure which is ours.

Pray, may we dwell awhile

The wonder ever flowers.
