We remain vigilant but there has been no other offences since.

Each week, on a Friday and Saturday there is a dedicated late shift from the neighbourhood response team engaged on Operation Marble, the operation dedicated to the night time economy, who are generally on foot in the town centre, visiting licensed premises and dealing with anti-social behaviour and public place violent crime.

There is a dedicated town centre team who are regularly in Littlehampton town centre and deal with numerous offences, such as street drinking and consumption of illegal substances.

While we endeavour to deal with issues, it is very important that if members of the public witness such behaviour that they report it to Sussex Police at the time either on 101 or email [email protected] or 999 if there is a crime taking place and it is an emergency.

Sergeant Ian Cheesman

Editor’s note: This letter is in response to a letter from Norman Long, published on February 6 in the Gazette, about a spate of cars being vandalised in Littlehampton.
