Post Office ‘saga’

I have been reading with great interest the Post Office saga.

As a local sub-postmaster between 1962 and 1992, our office came under Littlehampton and the then head postmaster, Mr Gallop.

Yes, Littlehampton was a very busy office at the time.

All mail sorted upstairs, incoming and outgoing, postmen leaving the office on bikes, and foot delivery to a wide area.

Much has changed over the years, with the postal service now operating from the industrial estate in Rustington.

Only the counter services has been left in The Arcade in rather large premises.

The counter services can be very well run in the high street.

Within weeks, all would be accepted and the past forgotten.

Just remember when you send a text, use your mobile or your computer, you aren’t helping the situation.
