Pupils pack shoeboxes with gifts for Romanian children

It was wonderful to see so many Cranleigh Prep pupils take part in a charity initiative in the run up to Christmas, to provide a ‘shoebox’ of small gifts for disadvantaged children in orphanages in Romania.

The children gathered excitedly in the prep school reception, holding their shoeboxes which were filled with a wide range of Christmas treats, from winter woollies, games and stationery to torches, toiletries, wrapped sweets and soft toys.

Each child selected an age category, either between 6-9 years or 10-14 years, indicating whether the presents were for a girl or boy, then put this information on top of their beautifully wrapped boxes, with £2 taped on top (to help with the cost of transport and distribution). The children gave their shoeboxes to the Cranleigh Rotary Club, who will be sending them on to Romania.
