Road problems have got worse

The Barnhorn Green development has raised it's head again with a request to build 67 additional dwellings.

This on top of the already granted 275 houses.

Little or no consultation was received and local people only found out about the plan when pink planning notices went up around the area.

Knowing of the controversy the original development raised, it would appear a little short sighted just to tack it onto the earlier plan.

On Friday, August 2, Bexhill Observer published my earlier comments mainly centred on the traffic problems the original plan would bring to the A259.

The problem hasn’t gone away and has got worse rather than better.

Any week day, anyone who is local and uses Barnhorn Road will know, the traffic builds from 3.30pm and tails back to Sandhurst Lane.

A distance of three-quarters-of-a-mile.

If this whole plan were to go ahead some 500-plus cars could spew from the development onto Barnhorn Road, by right, as they plan traffic lights to let them out!

How far will the tailback be then?

Hopefully, the council will see sense, after all it was their Conservative leader David Cameron who said ‘ local people should decide where developments should and shouldn’t go’.

But who knows, maybe this development will bite them on the behind like the wind tunnel shelters on the seafront.
