The recent letter from M.H. Green which praises the efforts of Rother to peg the cost of rates was a breath of fresh air.
Whether we blame Gordon Brown or the bankers for stripping the coffers bare, the reality is we can’t afford the ever rising cost of local government.
Rother’s propensity for squandering money on the De La Warr pavilion does its reputation no favours, but at least it is trying to pull back to a position of financial sustainability.
