Rowland Singers' offering of The Messiah was breathtaking performance

I must confess to have not in the past been the biggest fan of amateur choirs, last week changed all that when I attended the at the Assembly Hall.

To say that it was as near a professional presentation as one could ever hope for would be an understatement.

The quality of the musical rendering was quite breathtaking and was matched by something that so many amateur choirs so lack – discipline. Helen Emery had obviously painstakingly drilled her choir to make them look as well as sound professional.

The control of the superb orchestra again reflected her amazing ability not just as a musical director but also as a conductor. What a talented lady.

And as for the soloists, the Soprano and Bass were awesome as indeed was the Trumpet player - Handel would have been proud of him.

The huge audience for this magical performance were highly vocal in their praise of the offering and to those who didn’t attend I would simply say - don’t miss the next one!!
