Safe junction needed

IN his letter (Gazette, July 22) G. A. Harris suggests that the south end of Toddington Lane could be reopened to avoid the congestion caused by parked vehicles in Holmes Way, the ridiculously narrow estate road which now has to take the large volume of through traffic.

For many years we tried to persuade West Sussex County Council to provide a proper and safe junction of Toddington Lane with Worthing Road (now the A259), but all our suggestions were refused on flimsy grounds, such as the desire to limit access points to the main road.

It will be interesting to see how the highway authority deals with access to and from the proposed development of a further housing complex at Windroos on the A259, adjacent to the cemetery roundabout.
