St John Ambulance has been Sainsbury’s chosen charity in Cranleigh over the last 12 months (June 2014 to May 2015).

Shoppers at the store have supported the fundraising through collection box donations and staff held a sponsored silence in December.

The money raised will go towards providing training and equipment for the team of volunteer first aiders in Cranleigh, who regularly provide life saving support at local events in the community.

Gerry McAteer, Cranleigh Unit Manager, commented: “On behalf of all of our volunteers I would like to say a massive thank you for the support from Sainsbury’s over the last 12 months and also the local shoppers who’ve made donations too. It’s wonderful to know the local community is supporting our life saving work in the area.”

Cranleigh St John Ambulance is looking for people to volunteer as first aiders with the unit. Full training is provided. For more information, go to www.sja.org.uk or call 0303 003 0101.
