She starts her breathless tour in Classical Greece, moving through the Renaissance, Baroque, Neo-Classical, Romantic, Impressionist and Post-Impressionist styles and finales with the Young British Artists including Tracey Emin and Damien Hirst.

Art historians do not need any drawing or painting skills; this is an academic subject that adopts two approaches. First, a chronological examination of the style, composition, narrative content and iconography of works of art and architecture; then, a consideration of more in-depth knowledge of the social, political and cultural climate of a few chosen works.

Mrs Huntsman said, “This course promises to enrich students’ cultural experience and foster lifelong learning. The skill of reading any given work of art or architecture is not only empowering, but one you take with you through life regardless of location. It is expected that most people will see this as an enrichment opportunity and enrol for the pure enjoyment of studying this subject, however, it will also be possible to sit the AS examination in summer 2016.”

People of all ages and backgrounds are welcome to join the classes at Farlington School, Horsham RH12 3PN. You do not need to be part of the Farlington community to attend.

The cost is £400 and if you would like to enrol, please contact the School Office on 01403 254 967.
