School’s celebration evening

The evening was attended by over 300 parents, staff and governors, all there to support the students that had been nominated for a prize this year.

The evening opened with a speech from the Head Boy William Standing and Head Girl Jemima Wickenden, welcoming the guests. This was followed by, a speech from the Headteacher and a performance from the school choir, ‘Glebelands In Harmony’.

Prizes were then awarded in each subject to the highest achieving student in the year group and the student making the greatest effort over the past academic year. Prizes were also awarded to those students who had made the greatest contribution to their tutor group, the 5 students in each year group who had received the most commendations during the year and to the 45 students who had 100% attendance.

The Harry Watts memorial prize for humanity was awarded to Sophie Hurman, a Year 10 student, who was nominated for the work she does with the Linksable charity group in Woking.

Headteacher Mrs Hutchinson said, “This has been a wonderful evening as everyone is here to recognise the hard work and achievements of our students. It is the icing on the cake after a very successful year.”

Thanks were also given to the Glebelands Trust who donated the prizes, the staff, governors and the parents for encouraging their children to be the best they can be and for attending the Celebration Evening to show their support.
