Seafront systematically ruined

WELL, Mr Fairclough, thanks for your long diatribe about the seafront in Bexhill. I lived there for many years, and in fact, arrived there as a young bride, and it was practically a ghost town then.

No, I won’t tell you what year: suffice to say that most people walked everywhere then. So I do speak with conviction.

In the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s it was wonderful. My children and I swam in the sea every day and it was a delightful place to live. As yet, I have not made any comment about the Next Wave seafront venture.

Whoever engineered this now abysmal seafront was certainly architecturally - as you put it - gazing out of their backside. The seafront as it was in all its old quaintness has been systematically ruined.
