Service in snow

IN 2010, we had some of the worst weather the south coast has experienced for a number of years. Snow in January, cold winds, then in November and December very cold winds and snow, making conditions underfoot very difficult.

This has not deterred our paper shop, Luke’s News, of Rustington, from starting in the shop at 4.30am, awaiting the arrival of hundreds of papers to be sorted, ready for the 30 or so paperboys and girls to deliver.

Every day I have received my paper and magazines before 7.30am - a great feat not only for Neal Ogilvie and his team, but also for the boys and girls who, I am sure, would rather be tucked up in bed these mornings.

Thank goodness we still have a shop like Luke’s, because Tesco or Sainsbury’s wouldn’t entertain such service.
