Can I add my support to Denise Wood’s letter about dog fouling? I have previously taken part in several beach cleaning events and would be shocked at the amount of dog mess (and often quite large deposits) among the pebbles.

Aside from the beach and promenade, I regularly encounter dog mess left on the pavements in my road as well as elsewhere in town, and the deposits are often smack bang in the middle of the pavement thus presenting even greater risks of others stepping into them. “I haven’t got a bag” is, in my opinion, a lame excuse for anyone who is walking and exercising dogs in public areas.

I know that there are signs in some places with the threat of a penalty but we really need all dog walkers to take responsibility - and use the proper bins for disposing of their bags, not other residents’ wheelie bins!
