Short memory...

I HAD to have a little giggle when reading Littlehampton mayor Joyce Bower’s comment in the wonderful Littlehampton Town Show and Family Fun Day report, last week (Gazette, September 19).

She hails the virtues of the town’s community. And rightly so!

She praises the fact that the town show has united the community in Littlehampton.

But does she not remember that, little more than a year ago, herself and other town council members tried to split this event, to split the show and split the community with it?

I wonder what she would have been saying if this move had been agreed!?

Thankfully, we will never find out.

Appalling report

I AM appalled to have read the report on Darlington Court (Gazette, September 5).

My late husband Ron was looked after there in November 2007 for only 11 days when he was dying of cancer.

The staff were brilliant, so king and caring. The night Ron died the staff were very kind to me and my family.

We had a phone call at about 11pm, to go to be with him for his last hours.

When we got there they bought us refreshments and stayed with us until the end.

The sent flowers for his funeral which we all thought was very kind. It’s a shame people don’t get their problems sorted before complaining.
