This is not a Covid story but one of praise and thanks to the wonderful consultants, doctors, nurses, paramedics and NHS staff at Eastbourne District General Hospital.

They looked after my 81 year-old-father during a time when the virus has put them under immense pressure as one of the worst affected areas in the UK.

What wonderful treatment he received!

My father, Roger, passed out and collapsed on the bathroom floor with heart failure in the early hours of Saturday, hitting his head and knocking a skin graft wound in the process.

He alerted us by banging loudly on the shower door. Mum thought we were being burgled!

I will shorten a long story but from the kind and professional paramedics arriving within four minutes through to those angels and heroes working in A&E, the acute medical unit, maxillofacial and cardiology, I cannot praise them enough!

He even loved the food!

It is now Friday afternoon as I write this and he is at home having been fitted with a pacemaker, his head scanned and his wound dressed (maxillofacial went to see him as soon as I phoned to say he was in hospital) and a bag full of new medicines to keep him going, so to speak!

I want to shout from the rooftops and say thanks to all the amazing people who work for our NHS!
