Showcase for musical talent

A charity that helps young people across the UK fight cancer is calling on schools and colleges in Sussex to showcase their students musical talents by signing up to an exclusive competition.

Teenage Cancer Trust is encouraging students aged 11 to 18 to take part in the charity’s first ever ‘Time for Talent’ event.

This unique event builds on Teenage Cancer Trust’s music heritage and allows schools and colleges to organise their own music talent show whilst raising a minimum of £250 for the charity at the same time.

Each school or college will vote for their own winning act with the winner filmed and submitted to Teenage Cancer Trust. In April, a panel including a celebrity judge will watch the winning entries and an overall winner will be chosen.

The winner of the grand final will then receive a once in a lifetime prize which could kick start a starry musical career with a recording session at a music studio and the chance to perform live at music festival Dumbfest on May 4, 2013.

It is hoped Time for Talent will raise over £10,000 for the charity and all funds raised will go towards helping young people fight cancer such as those being treated at Teenage Cancer Trust’s largest and most impressive state-of-the-art 13 bed specialist cancer unit at The Royal Marsden in Surrey.
