Sickened by attack

I WAS sickened to read the story of the little cat whose life was taken by those who are beyond acceptable description. I extend my sympathy to the family of this feline pet.

I will not write of what is in my thoughts regarding a fitting punishment, except to say that I would have to stand in line at the back of an undoubtedly long queue in order to put my thoughts into action.

Instead, I should like to invite the perpetrators to write to this newspaper (anonymously, of course) to explain why they committed this act.

Having worked with young offenders, I have no doubt that, if they were to take up my invitation, the usual sad excuse of “boredom” would appear somewhere within their explanation.

In addition, it is so often this minority of young people who demand respect from others and yet become strangely agitated when it is not forthcoming.

Clearly, for these particular individuals, such demands would be as sick as their minds.
