Students were given IPads and a series of business tasks to perform.

In teams, they generated ideas for future Sky programmes in a range of genres and pitched those ideas back to Sky’s professional programme makers.

Subject Leader for Media, Jonathan Nunns commented “We are massively grateful to Sky for this wonderful opportunity today.

“The students projected themselves as ambitious, energetic, focused and creative young professionals. I am thrilled that they did themselves and Collyer’s proud!”

During the presentations, the students had to set complex budgets, identify target markets and establish which Sky channel would be most suitable for the broadcast.

Jonathan Nunns added: “Sky’s training team were very impressed with the quality of thinking, organisation, and creativity of the Collyer’s students.

“In recognition of the quality of work and enthusiasm shown, they even offered the potential opportunity of a work experience placement to every student on the trip!”

Assistant Principal Melanie Russell was delighted: “Judging by their performance at Sky, these students have bright futures ahead of them in the creative arts industry and we look forward to seeing what they do next.

“We must of course also thank Jonathan Nunns and the Media and Film Studies teachers for their continuous hard work and support.”
