So much going on

THROUGH your newspaper, I should like to express my thanks to the organisers of recent functions I have attended while representing the town on behalf of the mayor, Joyce Bowyer.

On Saturday, July 10, I had the pleasure of attending the local Girl Guides' centenary celebrations at Fontwell, and would congratulate them on staging such a hugely successful event.

With so many activities for the girls to take part in throughout the day, there will be many happy memories to cherish for the 3,000-plus who attended.

The official opening of the Littlehampton Caravan Club site last Thursday was a great occasion, and the club has made a considerable investment at its Mill Lane site in providing the latest facilities available and employing local companies to build and install them.

With 115 pitches, the caravan site promises to be a great family destination, being so close to our Blue Flag beach and all the other attractions that our town has to offer.

Friday morning, following an incredibly difficult task of having to judge the bike or scooter with the best looking "bling" for each age group, I cut a big red ribbon to open the new green-coloured bike and scooter store at St Catherine's Catholic Primary School, obtained following on from achieving Healthy School status last year.

Saturday, I was given another mission impossible at the Jamie's Wish Fun Day when invited to judge the pet show.

Tracey Terry and Andy Blackwood and their helpers deserve many thanks for all their immense work in organising this annual event for the community, and their fund-raising efforts for this very worthwhile cause so close to their hearts.

Sunday I attended and presented prizes at the first Littlehampton Darts Open at the Coco Lounge. This inaugural event was sponsored by A2B and Arun Taxis and was very well organised by James Stephenson.

Gary Smithers works tirelessly to ensure that the Littlehampton Darts Organisation (LDO) is a significant fund-raiser for local charities and a magnificent sum totalling around 4,500 has been raised in the past two years.
