I am a resident of Eastbourne aged 82, living along the seafront. My husband recently passed away (not from Covid ) so I live alone and am in the vulnerable age group, so I am isolating as per the government advice.

I try to take exercise as much as I can but must say that to take a walk along the seafront is not to be recommended especially when the weather is as good as it has been recently.

Trying to socially distance is almost impossible, especially between the Redoubt and the pier where there is only a single promenade, I agree with other correspondents to your paper that we run the gauntlet of cyclists, skate boards, roller skates, buggies etc, although the majority are careful and considerate but there some who think they can ignore every other user of the seafront and weave in and out of people while maintaining their speed. I and many of my neighbours agree with the sentiments of other letter writers in this matter and wonder why no one is ever fined,

The other matter I wish to comment on is a letter from gentleman in Kent who visited and found there were no toilets open, no hotels or shops open and only take-away food available.

Does he not watch TV listen to the radio or read a newspaper? Go home and come back when it is safe to do so!
