The Eastbourne Public Spaces Protection (Dogs on Leads) Order 2017, (PSPO) makes it an offence for the majority of dog owners to walk their dog off a lead within designated areas.

Sovereign Harbour is a designated area where the Order applies at all times.

Recently, I witnessed an altercation between a woman whose dog was not on a lead and a gentleman whose dog was.

The free running dog approached the other dog who started growling and barking at it.

The woman did not appreciate the gentleman telling her that her dog should have been on a lead.

The purpose of this post is twofold: to draw attention to the Public Spaces Protection Order that governs the walking of dogs in Sovereign Harbour and to remind dog walkers that some dogs dislike being approached by others.

Those that do dislike it may react defensively and a dog fight could result.

Surely, it is in every dog owner’s interests to ensure that our PSPO is respected?
