Festooned with red and white bunting, the playground became a marketplace of stalls and games run by the pupils to raise money for the school.

Winners of the poster competition were also announced, following a fourth year of sponsorship by Fowlers Estate Agents, Billingshurst High Street.

Pupils were invited to design a poster to promote the Fair reflecting the St George’s Day theme, and more children than ever took part.

With competition running high the judges found it hard to reach a decision; however the three winners were Zoe Lewis from Reception, Marli Wright Thompson from Key Stage 1 and Isabella Holland from Key Stage 2. The overall winner was Marli.

The winning designs are proudly displayed in Fowlers Estate Agents’ window and throughout the village.

Each year the Spring Fair continues to break records for the amount of money raised and this year was no exception raising over £1,700.00 for the school.

With stalls ranging from the St George’s Cafe to the ‘Knock the Knight Down’ game, there was some healthy competition between Year Groups to see who could bring in the most amount of money. This year the Hunt the Dragon Egg proved particularly popular.

Helen Williamson, Head Teacher at Billingshurst Primary School comments: “Thanks to the ingenuity of our pupils and some fantastic weather, we enjoyed a very successful Spring Fair. It is extremely rewarding to watch the children take such pride in coming up with ideas and actively getting involved in this event, ensuring our visitors had a lovely afternoon.”

Keith Hutchinson, Manager at Fowlers Estate Agents comments: “We are very proud to sponsor the poster competition for the fourth year in a row and as ever we were extremely impressed with the creativity of the pupils, the St George’s Day theme inspired some fantastic art-work, and created some legendary dragons.”
