Still time to record Courtwick opinion

GAZETTE readers, in particular those who directly supported the Courtwick Lane Opposition Group’s (CLOG) campaign against the planning application for 600 dwellings on prime agricultural land off the A259 at Wick, will be interested in the following information.

Arun District Council deferred the application on July 13 to allow for further consultation to take place on the possibility of using Courtwick Lane as a secondary, unrestricted two-way access to and from the proposed development site, in addition to the proposed traffic light-controlled junction opposite Eldon Way on the Littlehampton bypass.

Currently, the application proposes that the western section of Courtwick Lane, which is a single track farm road, is only to be used for existing users, buses and emergency vehicles.

The question of traffic impact in opening up Courtwick Lane has been put to the developers, which would also relate to a potential change in description.

The matter is likely to return to Arun’s development control committee on September 7, and comments on these proposals should be submitted to Arun by August 17.

CLOG would welcome people’s support in order to reject such a proposition by people expressing their concerns in writing to: Neil Crowther, Planning and Housing, Arun District Council, The Civic Centre, Maltravers Road, Littlehampton, BN17 5LF.
