I am informed that the numbers of firefighters is to be cut from 10 to 4 and fire engines reduced from 2 to only 1.

This makes no sense when Bexhill is growing so fast, in my ward there has been 100 housing completions alone.

In Little Common there are major planning applications in the pipeline.

The government wants houses built and developers win a lot of appeals.

So when Bexhill Fire Station came under review it should have been accepted that the current levels of staffing needed to be retained.

County councils have to find ways to save money but not if it puts public safety at risk.

These proposals have no logic and should be withdrawn.

It’s a hard job telling residents every year they have got to pay more council tax for less services.

Common sense needs to prevail, and stop the cuts in the fire service.
