It was helpful to read the property page about the Government’s tax receipts for the last few months of the first lockdown July-September, when the Stamp Duty Land Tax relief came into play for asking prices up to and including £500,000 (Eastbourne Herald November 27).

Andy Sommerville of Maidstone-based firm Search Acumen suggested that it is swings and roundabouts – the demand for up-market houses pushing prices well over the tax threshold, making up for the loss of tax revenue in relief.

The historic two-acre farmhouse in the heart of Langney is attractive to a buyer.

It is on the market at £500,000.

It is worrying that what are primarily community initiatives, like Sharnfold Farm and Historic Langney Priory Limited, will get crowded out by street after street of uniform houses.
