Students celebrate Early Years Education success

Hosted by EYE subject leader Debbie Mollart, the students received certificates from Collyer’s principal, Sally Bromley and afterwards enjoyed some tea and ludicrously delicious cake!

This year’s level 2 graduates were: Hannah Ayshford, Hannah Chilcott, Emily Ede, Jamie Fletcher, Chloe Lawrance; Lucy Milnthorpe, Rachel Reid, Marie Varquez; Bobbi Warrington and Kira Wilson-Eldridge.

Chloe Lawrance, who is looking forward to continuing to level 3 EYE at Collyer’s next year, said: “I haven’t found it easy but I have really enjoyed the challenge.

“The level 2 course has improved my knowledge and I’ve particularly enjoyed the two work placements, as they gave me the opportunity to put college work into practice.”

Celebrating a successful level 3 were: Marya Ahmed, Sian Bishenden, Jessica Bushby, Jennifer Crick; Naomi Dale, Emma Hillier, Robert Light; Chloe Mannion, Bethany Newton, Jessica Oakley, Amy Parker; Emily Reid, Shahrazed Rhioui and Chelsea Slayford.

Debbie Mollart said: “I’m really proud of all of our students as they have achieved so much this year and it is great to celebrate success. They’ve been a smashing group!”

Special prizes were also presented on the day. Chloe Lawrance received the Excellence Award for Level 2 and Jessica Oakley was thrilled to be presented with the Excellence Award for Level 3.

Jessica Oakley said: “I’d like to thank all of the teachers for their support over the last 3 years; I’ve grown so much as a person and I’m really excited to be starting my career in child care.”

Sally Bromley was extremely proud: “We have an excellent department for Early Years Education and these talented students and their teachers have worked really hard to be successful over the past year.

“These are incredibly tough courses to pass as they test academic skills and the ability to be effective in the workplace. Congratulations everyone!”

Debbie Mollart added: “Many of these students are continuing to EYE level 3 here at Collyer’s, moving straight into child care careers or taking places on Higher Education courses. At Collyer’s we ‘Educate for Excellence’ and I hope these wonderful students carry this on into their work with young children.

“I wish them all the very best of luck and I can speak for all of their teachers when I say that the students leaving will be sorely missed by us all.”
