Success for teaching assistants at Collyer’s

Mel Hargreaves, Programme Manager of the 4As Centre at Collyer’s was delighted: “These qualifications open up so many opportunities. This year, one student has progressed to university to study Primary Teaching. Students have also started teaching assistant jobs working with classes or individual students in both primary and secondary settings.”

The Teaching Assistant courses reflect Collyer’s high educational standards and include group and individual teaching.

Caroline Holder, who taught the Level 2 cohort, said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching this group who have shown real determination to achieve, commitment to their studies and great teamwork skills. I am confident that the students will go on to make a positive difference to children and young people’s learning. Since starting the course, 6 of the 12 have secured employment in a teaching assistant role and another has had hours and a job role expanded.”

Collyer’s Vice Principal Steve Nicholls said: “Well done to these talented students and massive thanks to Collyer’s own Caroline Holder and Mel Hargreaves! They are all a class act! These are qualifications are tough and I’m glad that all of their hard work has clearly paid off.”

Mel Hargreaves concluded: “The students have worked very hard around their jobs and home life to complete these courses. We have taken lots of bookings for this coming September and will be open for applications until the end of June.”
