Summer’s here...

WE were walking along Littlehampton Promenade on Sunday afternoon and I felt I had to write to you with my observations.

It was a beautiful afternoon and not one person was sitting on the longest bench.

The only people who were “using” it were young children walking and climbing all over it, ignoring the tiny little notice on it saying “No Climbing” (an accident waiting to happen).

However, when we arrived almost at the pier where the original benches are, you couldn’t find a space to sit on because people were sitting, relaxing and enjoying the environment.

Point made!

Also, regarding the discussion about the cycling lane, I think it is a good idea to have this reinstated. In Canada and other countries they have cycling lanes, roller skating lanes and a pedestrian lane.

All are well marked and work very well.

As long as the cyclists have bells on their bikes and use them to let people know they are there, and there is a speed limit, surely there shouldn’t be a problem.
