Earlier in the year, the children had planted sunflower seeds within a playgroup session, and later when the seeds had grown into healthy seedlings, everyone bought a plant for 50p to take home and grow, to see who could grow the tallest sunflower.

The deadline dawned and winner of the tallest sunflower competition was a 261 cm tall specimen, grown by 4yr old Sam Abrehart who received a £20 prize.
