Teams wanted by charity to compete in midnight walk

The South Downs Way PLOD on 25 July 2014 will raise vital funds for children’s charity Action Medical Research.

The South Downs Way PLOD may be a charity walk but don’t be fooled, teams will need their stamina and wits about them to navigate a 40-mile route through the darkness as they push on to watch the sun rise and steam ahead through the following day.

Setting out from the Devil’s Dyke, it’s a tough event but great fun and very rewarding, with many teams coming back the next year to beat their previous time.

The 40-mile challenge begins at midnight at the magical, ancient site of Devil’s Dyke, just north of Brighton. By the time teams reach the finish line on Beachy Head, Eastbourne the following afternoon, the South Downs Way will have amazed them with its stunning beauty and tough challenges.

Whether you take this on as a workplace wheeze, a team bonding test or as a bunch of mad mates seeking a new challenge then the South Downs Way PLOD will deliver all the pain and all the glory you may be seeking.

As well as testing stamina, you will also need to use teamwork, strategy and intelligence to gain bonus points for completing additional challenges along the way.

So whether you are in it to win it or you just feel the need to push yourself to the limit with your best buddies then 40-mile on the South Downs Way PLOD will either make you or break you!

Teams participating in the South Downs Way PLOD will be raising money to help fund medical research into conditions affecting babies and children.

Action Medical Research has been funding medical breakthroughs since it began in 1952. The charity is currently supporting work around stillbirth, epilepsy, meningitis, cerebral palsy and brain cancer, as well as some rare and distressing conditions that severely affect children.

To take part in the South Downs Way PLOD you’ll need a team of four walkers and a support driver (plus vehicle).
