Thanks are due for council’s work in 2010

BELIEVE it or not, I would like to start the New Year by thanking Battle Town Councillors for their efforts on our behalf in the year that has past, and wishing them well for the very difficult year to come.

One doesn’t have to agree with all they say and do, any more than they have to agree with non councillors who hold opposing views.

But at least they are prepared to spend a great deal of their spare time, and mental energy, in representing the town as a whole.

Talking of mental energy, I used some when considering our mayor’s suggestion in last week’s Observer, that Battle should have its own flag, and would like to suggest that until Rother District Council give us a fairer car parking system we fly the Skull and Crossbones - at half mast.
