The use of Tippex might be the answer

Last week Whispering Smith highlighted the current topic of modernising historic churches.

The question for Sundays seems to be: do you maintain a reassuring link with past generations, or do you set up a light and airy church-shaped utility room?

I imagine there is no ‘right’ answer, but it would be a loss to find all historic churches neutralised inside, however light and airy.

There was also the question of the phantom expletive-writer of Wimborne Minster.

In answer to why people might attack church visitors’ books with blasphemy or obscenity, there is a plain answer – they have problems they haven’t dealt with.

They are trying to overpower and upset everyone else as a personal diversion from having to upset themselves by looking into their problems.

Swearing is a pretty good indication of people demonstrating that they have problems.

So is bullying. The two are often linked. The staff of Wimborne Minster can use Tippex. “M Keen” will need to do something more thorough over his/her secret compulsion with bad language and visitors’ books.
