Therapist from Henfield takes over training school

Two former students at The Wilbury School of Massage and Reflexology in Dyke Road, Brighton, have taken over the running of the 30-year-old business.

Elizabeth Ross-Talbot of Henfield and Lorraine Prideaux of Chichester, principal tutors, started their training at the school seven years ago and continued as trainers after qualifying.

More than a thousand former students have gone on to run therapy practices all over the UK from the school launched 30 years ago by Jill Dunley and recently handed over by principal Lindy Gillam, who retired in March.

Eight trainers, who are all practising therapists, are based in the Dyke Road Natural Health Clinic and Studio.

“We are very proud to be continuing the work of training complementary therapists,” says 48-year-old Elizabeth.

“The benefits and effects of relaxation, massage and reflexology have been shown to help physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. We have now added training in sports massage therapy and Neutral Space Relaxation, which are exciting developments.”

Students from all over the UK do their training in Brighton to gain therapist diplomas from the International Therapy Education Council (ITEC).

Lorraine, 49, s shortly to open a satellite training facility in Chichester. “We are very proud that so many former students have gone on to success over the years and that they keep in touch,” she says.

Practitioners in complementary medicine have gained a reputation for excellence through the work of the Brighton-based school.

More than 50 former students and guests were at a re-launch party at the school on Saturday morning.
