‘There are selfish people on all forms of travel – not just cycling’

Mr Wilby – see his letter here – just needs to take a deep breath and relax.

We are all equal human beings whether we travel by foot, bicycle, mobility scooter, car, motorbike or horse. No one is different because of the way they travel. Of course there are selfish people, but on all forms of travel.

I suspect Mr Wilby’s problem is only irritation – if he had been actually hurt I am sure he would have mentioned it.

If he had been injured, of course, after medical treatment he has every right to complain formally to the police.

In taking it on himself to instruct offending cyclists he will of course get some negative response, it is a normal human response.

Can he believe shouting or waving at cars or motorbikes to slow down would only receive a very polite ‘sorry’ and immediate drop in speed? It is up to the police to decide what are actual problems rather than perceived ones.

Just relax, next time you see another human doing something you do not approve of, tut to yourself and carry on.
